NEWPORT County goalkeeper Joe Day has tweeted this photograph of his newborn twins, born last night on the same day of the Exiles' FA Cup heroics at Rodney Parade.

The club shared the good news this morning. Day's wife Lizzie gave birth to twins Sophia Grace Day and Emelia Lillie Day.

Mum and daughters are all said to be healthy and ready to watch County take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the next round of the competition.

Day kept a clean sheet in Newport County's 2-0 replay victory over Middlesbrough on Tuesday, and ran straight off the pitch at full time to join his wife, after learning she had gone into labour during the match.

And on Twitter, the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board shared a picture of the keeper and his wife Lizzie with their newborn twins.

Day missed the first Middlesbrough tie, a 1-1 draw on Teesside, because his wife was expecting the twins' birth.

Newport County offered "huge congratulations" to the Day family.
