A CAR wrapper from Newport is gearing up to represent the region on the national and international stage.
Conrad Bobrowski, from South Wales Auto Wrap in the city, has been professionally wrapping cars for eight years.
He is preparing to take his trade to the NEC in Birmingham later this year before embarking on a longer trip to the World Championships in Munich, Germany.
Four wrappers will be showcasing their talents at the same time in order to please the judges.
Mr Bobrowski said: “We’re really excited, there are two months left until the event.
“The Birmingham event is between the best in the UK and the one in Germany is the best wrappers from all over the world.
“More than 40,000 people will be there.”
Vehicle or car wrapping involves completely covering a vehicle in full coloured vinyl film.
Previously this could only be done by hand painting the vehicles. Today however, vehicle wrapping is achieved using large sheets of printed vinyl.
Vinyl wrap can be removed at any time and returning your vehicle to its original finish. It removes the need for respraying which can be expensive.
Although he has been preparing non-stop for the upcoming event, Mr Bobrowski does not yet know the exact tasks he will be expected to perform in front of the judges.
“We never know what we will be given to wrap, what kind of vehicle,” he said.
“It will be at the last minute. Last year it was BMWs.”
And it’s not just cars, Richie Parmer, director at South Wales Auto Wrap, explained that vinyl wrap can be applied to many vehicles such as motorbikes, boats and even helicopters and planes.
Every year more than 200 wrappers compete in FESPA World Wrap Masters events, presided over by our international group of judges – all of whom are senior trainers with years of experience under their belts.
