MORE THAN 1,700 homes in Newport were affected by a powercut this morning.
Homes and business were affected across the city for roughly an hour.
Newport city centre restaurant The Pod was among those affected.
A staff membe said: "There was no power for at least an hour.
"But we were not open at the time so the disruption was minimal."
A spokeswoman for Western Power Distribution said: "At 11.19am we had an underground cable fault.
"The area affected was the area around Rodney Parade and the area around St Vincent.
"1,734 customers were off supply for just one minute."
This issue was fixed, but 550 homes were still without power until 12.03pm.
