A Welsh Water spokesperson said: “We are dealing with an operational issue at our Cwmtillery water treatment works, which means that some customers in the Cwmtillery and Abertillery area may be experiencing discoloured water, or have no water supply.

“We are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible, and we are moving water around the network to restore a water supply to those customers affected.

“We have bottled water available at Tesco in Abertillery and we are delivering bottled water to our vulnerable customers in the area.

“We are very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and assure everybody affected that we are doing all we can to restore normal service as quickly as possible.

“As supplies begin to return, some customers may notice a slight discolouration of their tap water. This is not unusual after an incident of this nature and should clear within a short period of time.

“If anyone has concerns about their water, we would ask they call our operational helpline on 0800 052 0130.”

ABERTILLERY residents have reportedly been experiencing lingering issues with their water supply.

Yesterday morning Welsh Water issued a statement saying that operational issues were affecting drinking water supplies in the Cwmtillery area of the town.

The statement continued: “We have a team on site investigating and anticipate supplies should start returning to normal by later this evening.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

However, in a statement released this morning, Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council reported that the water issues were still affecting area of Abertillery.

The council statement read: “Properties should have water, but water pressure may not be good.

“Water is available at Tesco for collection and Welsh Water are delivering to vulnerable customers.

“Call 0800 0520145 if you are vulnerable.”
