NEWPORT East AM John Griffiths has been handed pole position in this year’s Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon in aid St David’s Hospice Care.
Mr Griffiths is a strong supporter of the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon having competed since its inception will wear the coveted Number 1 on his chest.
The former Welsh Government Minister for Culture and Sport said: “I look forward to taking part in the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon each year.
“I may well take part in the Newport Marathon this year so the half sits nicely ahead of that event.
“To see the Newport Half grow as it has done over the years is brilliant for the City of Newport. It is also a fabulous reflection on the organisers, St David’s Hospice Care, who do such marvellous work throughout our community.”
Organiser Christine Vorres, of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “We’re thrilled that John is once more taking part in the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon.
“He is a fine ambassador and standard bearer, not just for St David’s and the half marathon but also for the city.”
