A BOYFRIEND who clamped his teeth around his ex-partner nose and put a cord around her neck after pinning her down has been jailed.

Christopher Stock, aged 27, formerly of Hatherleigh, Christchurch, Newport, attacked his girlfriend while the pair were drinking during the day at home last summer.

Prosecutor Rebecca Griffiths told Cardiff Crown Court the defendant assaulted his victim after he became enraged after she received a text message from an unknown number.

She said: “He pinned her down on the bed and clamped his teeth over the end of her nose.

“He put a cord around her neck and put his hand over her mouth to stop her screaming.”

Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke heard how the police were called and Stock ran off with his victim’s mobile phone.

He pleaded guilty to common assault and theft, the offences taking place on July 25, 2018.

The complainant’s victim impact statement was read out and in which she said of the defendant: “I feel upset and hurt that he changed in such a short space of time.”

Miss Griffiths said Stock had previous convictions for violence, including wounding.

She asked for a restraining order to be imposed by the court.

Marian Lewis, mitigating, said: “The defendant was born and bred in Duffryn area and is well known there.”

She told the court that Stock has autism and, referring to his disability and previous convictions, added: “He was the victim of much teasing and bullying and fell into the wrong company.”

Miss Lewis said: “There were no visible injuries to the complainant. These are minor offences in the cannon of offences this court has to consider.

“The defendant has been in custody since September 14, 2018, and has served the equivalent of an 11-month sentence.

“He has no desire whatsoever to contact her (the victim) in any way.”

The court heard she had left Newport.

Judge Lloyd-Clarke told Stock: “This was a nasty attack. You used your teeth as a weapon.”

She jailed Stock for four months for the assault and a four-month conditional discharge for the theft.

The judge also imposed a five-year restraining order prohibiting the defendant from contacting his victim either directly or indirectly.

He must also pay a victim surcharge within three months.
