STAFF from Bluebird Care Pontypool and Ebbw Vale are planning to complete a hike of Pen-Y-Fan to raise money for Mind Monmouthshire.

The home and live in care providers have decided to take on the hike to raise money for a charity that has become an essential resource to the Monmouthshire community over recent years.

Mind Monmouthshire provides a point of contact, information, and a wide range of services for people experiencing poor mental health across the whole county of Monmouthshire.

The services Mind Monmouthshire provides are especially important in Wales, as 53 per cent of women in Wales suffer from low-level mental health problems, and the average rate of suicide for men in Wales is higher than the average across the UK.

The team who will be embarking on the hike are care manager Sara Webb, care coordinator Cerys Morgan, and business development director Ryan Hoskins.

The staff at Bluebird Care Pontypool and Ebbw Vale recognise how important mental health services are, and work every day to better the lives of people who need support the most, whether that be physical or mental.

Mr Hoskins said: “I am very excited to complete this walk with the team and raise lots of money for charity. The three of us aren’t big hikers, so it will be a real physical challenge for each of us, but we look forward to putting our minds and bodies to the test.

"I have worked with Mind Monmouthshire for over three years and they have been a huge support for so many people, and everyone at Bluebird Care Pontypool and Ebbw Vale wanted to take the opportunity to give back and make a difference.”

The three staff members at Bluebird Care are hoping to raise £1,000 for the climb, which will take place on Sunday, March 30, in support of Mind Monmouthshire. If you are interested in donating, please visit their fundraising page.
