A company which started life as a single unit concern in Newport at the onset of the recession has scooped two awards from Acquisitions International.

Storage Giant’s self-storage empire, which was first established by local entrepreneur Simon Williams in 2007, has been successful in the Best Commercial & Domestic Self-Storage Facilities 2019 - England & Wales category and the Small Business of the Year 2019 - South Wales category.

The awards recognise impressive and growing businesses worldwide.

Storage Giant offers self-storage for domestic and business clients, as well as low cost office space. The company now has nine sites across the UK, with new sites currently in development in the Midlands and Bristol.

It has its eye on developing a further 11 by 2020.

Simon said: “I’m very pleased to see Storage Giant recognised by the Acquisitions International Awards.

"The company has always been a labour of love for me and I am proud to be a local employer in the region I grew up in, as well as across the wider Wales, Midlands and Oxfordshire areas.

"Businesses across Wales and the UK are working hard to create stable, useful, profitable firms which add value to the local economy and create employment within their communities and it is pleasing to be recognised as one of these, in an international forum.

“The Storage Giant story is one of steady, managed growth and I remain ambitious for its continued success.

"I established the firm at a time of economic uncertainty in the UK, but its success shows that with careful business planning, smart use of technology, an agile business approach, and a sharp customer focus, obstacles can be overcome and business can thrive.

“Over the last eight years the company has delivered an average annual year on year increase of 28.4 per cent revenue and 31.3 per cent earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation.

"The revenue forecast exceeds £5m over the next 12 months and an additional 47,770 sq. ft of self-storage unit space is now being added to five existing Storage Giant sites. Alongside this, we are proud to incubate many hundreds of small businesses at our sites across the UK.”
