The world’s oldest female skydiver Dilys Price will be firmly on the ground when she speaks to business women and others at the inaugural St David's Hospice Care Ladies Day event.

Sky diving octogenarian Dilys Price, who took up the sport aged 54 as she wanted something exciting to do, is preparing her next leap of faith - talking to a hall of 180 women.

Retired teacher and grandmother Dilys, aged 86, who is in the Guinness Book of Records, has made well in excess of 1,000 skydives. She revealed she had recently given up solo sky diving but still dives in tandem

The charity Ladies Day, the first to be held in aid of the Newport-based charity, is being staged at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Friday, March 8, 2019 - which is also International Women's Day.

The event will be compered by BBC journalist and broadcaster Sian Lloyd. X Factor’s James Williams performing; speaker of the year Jane Manuel and Charlotte Leyshon, director of Lux Family Law, will also talk.

Stylish Dilys, who was recently signed up as a model for global fashion brand Helmut Lang for its Women in Wales collection, said: “Life is for living no matter what age you are - just live it and enjoy yourself as much as you can.”

Franca Nigro, of St David’s Hospice Care, said the charity was thrilled with the way their ladies day had grabbed the imagination not just of the speakers bit those set to attend the event.

Franca said: “We’re thrilled to have been able to get such a wonderful range of speakers to our first ladies day event and also so many attendees wanting to sign up to attend.

“We’re especially delighted that Dilys will be with us and giving us an insight into her truly inspirational attitude and her get out there and enjoy yourself action-packed life.”

Beauty and laser practitioners Daniela and India Evans, of Beauty Advance Skin and Laser Clinic, and Denise Lovering, of Glenside Commercials, Caerphilly and Newport, are the inaugural sponsors of the event.

The event will see guests enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival and three-course lunch. There will be a drinks reception before the lunch and there will also be games, a raffle and an auction.
