WE ARE asking our readers to help support Marley Nicholls and his family as the search for a bone marrow donor for the six-year old continues.

Earlier this week, Marley began a clinical trial of immunosuppressant therapy at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital, a new treatment that provides hope for Marley to go into remission to provide more time to find a match. The therapy is designed to suppress the white blood cells to allow the bone marrow stem cells to replenish.

Tens of thousands of people have signed up to the bone marrow register and joined the Marrow for Marley campaign but sadly no match has yet been found. The Argus will be holding a swab event in conjunction with the Marrow for Marley campaign at Newport Centre on April 20 between 10am and 4pm. We urge as many of you as possible to attend that event to see if we can find a match for Marley.

Meanwhile as the family are dedicating all their resources into helping Marley, including father Joe having to take an unpaid month off work, we are asking our readers to help the family in their time of need and would like anyone interested in fundraising to get in touch.
