NEWPORT City Council has issued a stark warning over bogus calls.
Scammers are calling residents in Newport and asking for bank details.
And the local authority has taken to social media to warn that the calls are not legitimate.
The council tweeted the below message.
WARNING: We have been told that scam callers claiming to be from the council's tax/valuation team are telephoning people and asking for bank details. We are not calling people, please warn family and friends and DO NOT give your bank details out to any cold callers, thanks.
