ROCK and punk fans will be rocking out at a three-day music festival coming up soon.

Dementia Aware Fest is returning to The Dolls House, Abertillery, from April 19 to April 21. Organised by the Rock and Roll Circus team, and now in its second year, this is one of five events taking place across the UK in aid of dementia research.

Paul Cairns, of Rock & Roll Circus Events, said: “2018 was really successful and we want 2019 to top that with the great list of bands who have agreed to play.”

Some 25 bands are lined up for the weekend, including The Midnight Dogs, Tarot Rats, Terminal Rage, plus local favourites The Deathtraps and Drunken Marksman.

Friday kicks off with Kinstrife and is headlined by The Midnight Dogs, a four-piece classic rock outfit from Leicester.

Singer, Rob Cass, said: “We have supported many of Rock and Roll Circus’ charity events as punters and as a band. They are brilliant fun, well organised and have a fantastic community spirit.

“We can’t wait to rock the Dolls House on the first night of Dementia Festival.”

Saturday night will see A Joker’s Rage, one of the fastest growing bands from North England, headlining.

Guitarist, Adam Galton, said: “Spreading positivity through rock’n’roll is the best feeling and we’ve chosen this event to showcase some new songs from our upcoming new album.”

Topping the bill on Sunday will be Steve Ignorant, co-founder of the legendary anarcho-punk band Crass. He will be bringing his current band Slice of Life to Abertillery for the first time.

In comparison to Crass’s in-your-face punk onslaught, the band’s music is up-front and personal with a mix of songs and spoken word.

Also on the Sunday bill are Ambition Demolition, formed in 2016 and already with two albums under their belt.

Vocalist and guitarist, Alan Cattermoul, said: “We’re pleased to be playing to help raise awareness of this dreadful condition.

"It has affected several members of our close family and friends and it’s something that concerns us all. You have to keep rocking because you don’t know what tomorrow will bring."
