On Saturday, March 23, we featured the New Zealand frigate Otago, sailing from the UK to a French nuclear testing zone in 1973.

The 2,500-ton ship was sailing to Auckland in an effort to stop the tests taking place.

Decommissioned in 1983, the ship was sold and broken up in 1987.

Here’s what you had to say:

‘I would say the Port Life of March 23 is the HMRNS Otago launched Dec 1958 by Princess Margaret but commissioned in NZ navy. She was a Type 12M Rothesay Class but had slight differences to suit NZ navy. She was finally decommissioned in November 1983, sold for scrap and broken up in Auckland.

‘I joined the New Zealand Shipping Company in 1968 and remember seeing in NZ’
