RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information to try and track down the owner of a thin and unwell dog that was found at Llanwern, Newport.
The male Staffordshire bull terrier cross stray was found by a member of the public yesterday (April 8) at Llanwern and due to concerns with his health he was taken to a local vets. The RSPCA were then called.
RSPCA inspector Simon Evans said: “This dog had difficulty walking and was shaking and is very thin. We’re not sure where he has come from or how long he has been straying.
“We’re keen to see if there is any owner out there, as it may be he has escaped from his home and has been missing for some time or could have sadly been abandoned.
“If anyone has any information please contact us in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018.”
The dog - who is brindle with a white stripe on his nose - has now been taken into the care of the local dog warden.
Microchipping your pet gives them the best chance of being identified and returned to you if they become lost or stolen and it is a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped.
