WELSH rugby international Gareth Davies has signed up to help us promote our swab event in aid of Marley Nicholls.
The scrum-half, who plies his trade with the Scarlets and helped Wales to their Grand Slam and Triple Crown success earlier this year, put out a tweet to his 18,800 social media followers advertising the Marrow for Marley swab event we are hosting later this month.
The six-year-old, from Bettws, is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with a serious and rare blood condition called aplastic anaemia.
He is currently undergoing a clinical trial of immunosuppressant therapy at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital in a bid to put him in remission to provide more time for a donor to be found.
So far, tens of thousands of people have signed up to the donor list because of the with the Marrow for Marley campaign but a match is yet to be found worldwide.
“We just want to thank Gareth for helping us get the word out about this event, “ said Argus editor Nicole Garnon.
“We just want as many people to turn up as possible on the day in the hope that we can find a suitable donor for Marley.”
And she thanked Newport Live for allowing the Argus to hold the event in Newport Centre.
The South Wales Argus swab event will be held on Saturday April 20 at the Riverside Suite in Newport Centre, between 10am and 4pm.
It is a very simple process which takes just a matter of minutes.
There is no need to register beforehand, just turn up on the day.
