THE winners of our Gwent's Prettiest Pet competition have been presented with their prizes by artist Chris Langley.

Scamp the rabbit and Indy the puppy were victorious in the contest for which we received more than 1,000 entries from terriers to tortoises, ponies to poodles.

Indy's owners, Lisa Banton and her daughter Olivia, were delighted with Mr Langley's portrait of their puppy.

"It's beautiful," Ms Banton said. "You've captured the cuteness in the eyes."

Indy was just a few months old when her photograph was taken for the competition, and the glint in her eyes made her a clear winner for our judging panel.

Ms Banton said: "Her eyes are still like it now. You melt when she looks you in the eye."

Scamp's owners, Zoe and Jamie, said they were "very happy" with Mr Langley's portrait of their pet rabbit.

"We'll have to find somewhere nice for it," they added.

Scamp won the hotly-contested readers' favourite award with 37 per cent of the vote.

Mr Langley said Indy and Scamp were "two worthy winners" among stiff competition.

He added: "It's always god to meet the owners and get some feedback.

"I'm very pleased with the way the portraits came out – they were very good subjects."

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Gwent's Prettiest Pet competition. We enjoyed looking through all your photographs.
