A ROAD in Bettws, Newport, was closed for several hours this morning (April 11) after a driver crashed into parked cars and a pole.
Police had been called to a disturbance at an address at Monnow Way at approximately 2am, and as they arrived, a silver Citroen Berlingo was leaving the address.
That car then collided with a pole near the roundabout at the junction of Bettws Lane.

Locals told the Argus the driver had also smashed into two cars parked on the roadside in Monnow Way.
The driver was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital for treatment.
Monnow Way was closed until 9.45am, with several police vehicles in attendance.
In a photograph (top) sent in by a member of the public, a silver people carrier-type car, possibly the Citroen Berlingo, had had its doors removed.
And reader David Hendy sent in this photograph (below), via Facebook, of what he said was his grandparents' car which had been parked on the roadside.
"It will highly likely be written-off," Mr Hendy said of the damage.
A Gwent Police spokesman said officers were still making inquiries. The driver’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, he added.
He asked anyone with information to call 101, quoting log number 26 of 11/04/19, or to contact Gwent Police by direct message on Facebook or Twitter.
