Welsh West End actress Sophie Evans has put her force behind the Marrow for Marley campaign.

Sophie, who came runner up in 2010’s Over The Rainbow talent show and has since appeared in various West End musicals including as Dorothy in the Wizard Of Oz and currently Gallinda in Wicked, reached out to her 32,400 Twitter followers asking them to attend our Marrow for Marley swab event or register with Anthony Nolan.

South Wales Argus:

Sophie’s appeal for people to make our event joins a growing number of well-known faces urging their supporters to get behind the search for a donor for Marley. The search and appeal has gone worldwide with stars including supermodel Heidi Klum, actor and former wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and superstar Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles all joining their British counterparts including comedian Keith Lemon, TV presenter Vernon Kay and Wales rugby international Gareth Davies.

So far tens of thousands have joined the donor register as a direct result of the Marley campaign, joining the hundreds of thousands on the worldwide register, however, sadly no match has yet been found.

We at the South Wales Argus are hosting a swab event in conjunction with the Marrow for Marley campaign at Riverside Suite in Newport Centre on Saturday April 20 between 10am and 4pm and urge our readers to make the time to attend and sign up to the register.
