RAGAMUFFINS Emporium played its part in the opening of the biggest Primark shop in the world.

The antiques dealers, which moved in to the former Barclay's Bank building on Commercial Street, have supplied the vintage suitcases for the store's Harry Potter range display.

Owner Allun Davies said: "We were first contacted by a shopfitters in Coventry about suppling suitcases to a Primark at Gatwick Airport. We are known for our vintage suitcases - we have more than 200 at the Emporium.

"We have since suppled them to two other Primarks, including Oxford Street - where they have a whole Harry Potter floor.

"We did a delivery for the Birmingham store in January, but haven't been able to say anything about it until now."

The Emporium has supplied cases for The Grand Tour and the Oscar nominated film Bohemian Rhapsody.

Mr Davies said: "I think it's the personal touch that sets us apart from the bigger companies.

"If someone calls us about an order, we look to deliver them ourselves.

"It's really remarkable that such a small shop small shop in Pontypool gets these contracts.

"It's great to try and help put Pontypool on the map."

The Emporium has recently expanded to include 29 traders across two floors. Mr Davies said that they were hoping open up a further two floors of traders by the end of the year.

Primark's flagship Birmingham store opened on Thursday, spanning five floors across 160,000 sq ft.
