A DRIVER was attacked by two men moments after he crashed his car into a lamppost on a busy roundabout, say police.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man was "kicked and punched" by two other men on the A468 Bedwas Bridge Roundabout.

The two attackers allegedly stole the driver's wallet after the confrontation.

A 28-year-old man from the Caerphilly area has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed pending further investigations.

The incident happened at around 2.15am on Wednesday April 3.

Just before, the victim had crashed his black BMW into a lamppost on the roundabout.

A police spokesman said officers were continuing to investigate and were appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or assault.

The spokesman continued: "The first offender is described as a white man, of heavy build wearing a light coloured t-shirt. The second offender is described as a white man with short spiked hair, wearing a tracksuit and trainers.
