A 17-YEAR-OLD girl has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a huge fire engulfed the old Centurion Inn in Newport last night.
Emergency services were called the the blaze at around 7.10 pm yesterday (Thursday, April 11).
The fire at the derelict pub on Heather Road in St Julians, Newport, caused smoke to billow over large parts of the city, as fire fighters fought to contain it.

Police cordoned off the area, and redirected traffic around the site, while South Wales Fire and Rescue asked residents to remain indoors with their windows closed while they dealt with the fire.
Today, Gwent Police confirmed they are currently treating the fire as suspicious.
A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in police custody.
A force spokesman added that anyone with any information should call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log number 462 11/04/19 or direct message them on Facebook or Twitter. Alternatively, people with information can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
