THE popular Monmouthshire Games are returning to four leisure centres for seven days packed with fun, fitness and friendship.

The Monmouthshire Games (TMG) work on learning new skills, developing confidence, meeting new people and having fun through sport.

With more than 30 different sports, each day will be action packed with a full range of sporting activities that children aged 5-12 years can enjoy

TMG will take place across Caldicot Leisure Centre (Mill Lane), Chepstow Leisure Centre (Welsh Street), Monmouth Leisure Centre (Old Dixton Road) and Abergavenny Leisure Centre (Old Hereford Road).

It features specialist rugby, football and new outdoor adventure days at selected venues for all abilities.

Coaches from the Newport-based Dragons team will deliver two rugby camps, both from 9am to 3pm. One will be at Caldicot Leisure Centre on Thursday, April 18; the other at Chepstow Leisure Centre on Thursday, April 25.

These sessions are in partnership with Monmouthshire Sport Development and are £18.50 per child. Book by calling 01291 426850 (Caldicot) or 01291 635745 (Chepstow).

On Friday, April 26, children can take part in football camps at Abergavenny Leisure Centre or at Caldicot Leisure Centre from 9am to 3pm.

This fun camp is £18.50 per child. Book by calling 01291 426850 (Caldicot) or 01873 735360 (Abergavenny).

TMG Outdoor Adventure Days are a new venture, giving youngsters the opportunity to challenge themselves, learn new skills and enjoy the great outdoors.

There will be a ‘High & Mighty’ day on Monday April 15, allowing brave kids to try climbing and abseiling.

On Tuesday, April 16, there will be a ‘Wet & Wild’ day focused on canoeing on the River Wye.

All equipment and transport from Monmouth Leisure Centre is provided and all activities are delivered by fully qualified and trained staff. Children are requested to bring a packed lunch.

Both days runs from 9am to 5pm and the cost is £35 per person per day. Places are limited, so anyone interested should get in touch with Monmouth Leisure Centre on 01600 775135.

TMG will involve swimming each day. Other activities on the cards include ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, archery, parachute games, seated volleyball, crazy golf, dance, and more.

11-year-old Gary said, of a previous TMG: “The Monmouthshire Games was awesome. Cant wait to come back next half term. I really enjoyed the kayaking in the swimming pool/”
