THERE's still time to nominate your heroes for the South Wales Argus 2019 Pride of Gwent Awards.

We have received nominations for individuals and groups in the awards that publicly recognise the work of people in our community who go the extra mile.

These are the people who volunteer tirelessly for charities, who are carers, incredible fund-raisers or who have faced adversity with great courage.

We know there are scores of people out there who go the extra mile. We want to reward the people who work to make our communities better.

If you know someone who has come to the aid of a complete stranger, you can nominated them for the Good Samaritan Award, sponsored by Monmouthshire Building Society.

Last year, Members of the Bonkas 4x4 Wales group were awarded the Pride of Gwent Good Samaritan Award,

They went to amazing efforts to get people who work for the NHS, carers and patients to and from hospital during the heavy snow.

Club member Andy Griffiths was one of those helping in Gwent.

He said: “The 4x4 has all terrain tyres so you can pretty much cope with anything.

"I have a seven seater so it would be full of doctors and nurses, getting them to work and back again at the end of their shift.”

If you know of any person, team or organisation that has gone out of their way to help a complete stranger, please put their name forward for this year's Good Samaritan award.

It's time that their hard work was recognised. The awards ceremony will be held on July 4.
