MORE stars have joined the star-studded line-up for this year’s Celebrity Cup.

The event is returning to the five-star Celtic Manor Resort on July 13 and July 14, having already announced that Jenni Falconer (Scotland), Jennifer Gibney (Ireland) and Michelle Owen (Wales) will be representing women at the prestigious event.

The latest additions to the Bulmers-sponsored event include: Doctor Who star Bradley Walsh, Lucky Man’s James Nesbitt and Dancing on Ice semi-finalist Brian McFadden.

Mr Walsh, who is once again spendtime in Wales filming for his second series in Doctor Who, returns to an England side hoping to regain the trophy they lost in the final last year to Wales.

Also host of quiz show The Chase, Mr Walsh said: “The Celtic Manor is my favourite hotel in Britain and the Celebrity Cup is one of my favourite weekends of the year.

“We have such a lot of fun as players and it really is a fantastic couple of days. I was lucky enough to be in the winning team in 2017 and hopefully we can get our hands back on the trophy this year.”

Mr Nesbitt and Mr McFadden are also popular previous players in the four nations battle.

Mr Nesbitt, whose stellar TV credits also include Cold Feet and The Missing, makes his third appearance in the event while former Westlife singer and television personality, Mr McFadden, is an ever-present in the annual tournament first played in 2013.

They join Mrs Brown’s Boys stars Brendan O’Carroll, Danny O’Carroll and Jennifer Gibney in an Ireland side still looking for its first Celebrity Cup win.

Ms Gibney is one of three women already announced alongside Jenni Falconer and Michelle Owen, who will make her debut in the event for home side Wales. England also expect to announce a female player in their ranks before the tournament tees off.

The event was won last year by a Wales side captained by TV and radio presenter Gethin Jones and featuring rugby legends Jonathan Davies, Ieuan Evans, Sir Gareth Edwards and Scott Quinnell, and television actor Phil Glenister.

Thousands of golf fans and celebrity spotters will flock to Celtic Manor to watch the Celebrity Cup in July. As well as top-notch golfing action and on and off-course banter, there will be live music and food and bar outlets in the tented village.

Visitors can also experience the VIP treatment in Hospitality or at Saturday evening’s glittering Gala Dinner.
