A VAN driver has suffered what police called "life-threatening injuries" in a collision in Newport this morning.
The incident occurred in Celtic Way, Duffryn, at around 4.45am, and involved a white Peugeot Boxer van and a parked white Volvo lorry.
The driver was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, Gwent Police confirmed in a statement.

The road is currently closed in both directions while emergency service and recovery vehicles attend the scene.
A Gwent Police collision investigation unit has also attended the scene.
The incident took place on the approach to the Imperial Park industrial complex.
According to traffic reports, the nearby A48 is coping well with the closure.
