A MOUNTAIN biker was rescued at Cwmcarn’s Forest Drive by the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue team.
The man came off his bike while riding the single-track trail through the forest and sustained suspected multiple fractures of his lower leg.
A friend called for help and the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team treated the individual on site before he was safely stretchered down the remaining part of the trail by the mountain rescue volunteers and onto the forest road with a safe transfer to hospital.
The Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said on Facebook: “We wish him a speedy recovery from an extremely painful injury.”
Huw Jones, press officer and coordinator for Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said: “It was a really good illustration of how we, as a voluntary service, provide our service and how we have a great professional link with the paid emergency services including the Welsh Ambulance Trust and their Hazardous Area Response Team.
We also would like to thank our voluntary colleagues in Abergavenny’s Longtown and Brecon’s Mountain Rescue Teams for coming to aid and provide a strong and collective support network to ensure the best possible care can be provided.”
CBMRT is a totally voluntary organisation funded by public donation.
