A Shaftesbury Youf Gang member has penned the youth group's latest Argus column. They write:

"My NAME is Caorann and I am the chairman of the Shaftesbury Youf Gang.

"I am mostly in charge of the website and talking to people about what we do in this group. In the Youf Gang we do a variety of things, like visiting sport stadiums and raising money for charity, litter picking in the local area.

"Recently we had amazing opportunity to get a grant of £5,000 and we are so thankful for receiving it - there are lots of amazing groups that also got grants.

"Last year alone we raised £3,500 that went to a variety of amazing charities like the Poppy Appeal.

"Another thing we do frequently in the Shaftesbury Youf Gang is our Monday night sports club.It is £1 a week for two hours and we do a lot of different sports like football, cricket, dodgeball, basketball, table tennis and more.

"There are lots of things planned over this next year and I personally can’t wait because there will be more charity fundraising and also doing work experience.

"The one thing I like about the Shaftesbury Youf Gang is that everyone in the group has a voice, so whatever ideas they have we can try to make it happen. Another reason is that we are making the community a safer environment so other generations can be safe growing up here.

"The one thing I have enjoyed the most so far in being in the Shaftesbury Youf Gang would have to be the Poppy Appeal or visiting Man United Stadium. We also have done a lot of memorable things like the London tour and visiting Cardiff Stadium.

"I would like to say thank you for all the parents and the supporters that have been with us for a long time."
