A MUSICAL trio hope to start reaching a bigger audience as they approach three years of playing together.

Lazarus Moon, formed in 2016, are a rock band made up of Gwent members: Matt Galloway on vocals, guitar and words; Spike Savage on bass and backing vocals; and Dan Stinchcombe on drums, recording and production.

Recently they rocked out at the Dragonffli in Pontypool on April 19, before performing at part of Dementia Aware Fest, for their second consecutive year, at The Dolls House in Abertillery on April 20.

Lead singer, Mr Galloway, said: “For me music has always been in my life. My family had music careers and my uncle showed me some guitar chords when I could hardly hold the instrument.

“I grew up listening to progressive rock; the 80s gave me big hair and new wave. I listen to as much diverse music as possible, hence our eclectic sound.

“A few years ago, I started writing songs and I’m drawn to write about life experiences.

“I met Spike around two-years-ago and he’s a big character with a big sound. His influences are heavy rock.

"He’s enthusiastic and does a lot of our graphics. He introduced me to Dan.

“Dan is a different personality – seemingly quiet until he gets behind his drum kit! He has a recording studio, Skylight Studios.

"He’s keen on finding out about new recording technique and uses electronic samples to create another dynamic when we play live.”

“We are growing a local crowd but want to reach out to bigger audiences to play live,” added Mr Galloway.

“We’ve had radio airplay not just in the UK, but Canada and America – we even number two in an independent radio chart based in Australia.

“We’ve had some record label interest and will hopefully be supporting an established band if they can arrange a Welsh show.”
