U-boat in Newport Docks 1918
German U-boats surrendering after the Armistice of 1918 were towed to Newport for breaking. The gun around which these people are gathered is identical to the one now in Beaufort Square, Chepstow. In the background can be seen the masts and booms of other vessels in the Town Dock at this time.
