AFTER the high winds and rain that swept across Gwent yesterday during Storm Hannah, it is going to be a much more settled, if overcast, day today - and after a chilly few days, the temperature is going to be on the rise again.
The Met Office is forecasting that temperatures will reach a high of 13C in Gwent, in the late afternoon, with only a minimal chance of rain.
And during the coming week, temperatures are set to rise into the mid-teens (13-15C), with the likelihood of some sunny spells, particularly in the early part of the week.
That will make a welcome change after a few days of below-average temperatures. Yesterday morning for instance, Tredegar was recorded as being one of the coldest places in the UK, with the temperature at a wintry 3C.
High winds brought in by Storm Hannah made driving conditions in particular challenging yesterday and caused damage such as that to a tree in Llantarnam Close, Cwmbran, photographed by reader Valerie Thompson.
