WITH less than a week to go until the deadline for nominations in the Pride of Gwent Awards, what better time to highlight the work of someone in your community who goes above and beyond for their friends or neighbours.

Do you know someone like Ian Lloyd?

Mr Lloyd was the winner of the Local Hero Award at least year’s event.

Joined on stage by his children Tyler and Seren, Mr Lloyd was presented with the ward, sponsored by the Hughes Forrest, in recognition of his heroic efforts in helping to save a woman who was going to jump from a bridge in Cwmbran.

He moved the bus he was driving under a bridge to stop a woman from jumping and helped talk her down.

Tyler said: “I am proud of him.”

If you know someone who is deserving of an award in honour of their actions, then why not nominate them for a Pride of Gwent Award this year.

Nominating someone is easy and free of charge. All you have to do is head to southwalesargus.co.uk/prideofgwent and tell us why you think the person or group is deserving of the award.

Nominations close on Friday, May 3.
