THE Baileys at Home store in Abergavenny's Frogmore Street closed its doors for the very last time this morning.
Owned and run by the Bailey family, the Baileys at Home store was opened four years ago as an extension to the family’s successful business portfolio that includes a petrol station and two DIY shops.
Managing director Ian Bailey said business in Frogmore Street had contributed to the family's decision.
“We opened our Baileys at Home store four years ago in the hope that we could help to boost the economy in Abergavenny, but it just hasn’t happened at this end of Frogmore Street," Mr Bailey said in a statement on Wednesday, May 1.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make to close the store but I’m confident that we’ve given it our best shot. It was time to call it a day and to turn our focus to what we know best in our core businesses - our garage and our two DIY stores."
The firm said no jobs will be lost. More than 90 people are employed by the Bailey family, and staff working at the Baileys at Home store will be found positions elsewhere in the company.
The Bailey family also owns the BP petrol garage and Baileys DIY, both in Brecon Road, Abergavenny; and Baileys DIY in Ross-on-Wye.
