IT was an early start for members of the Amber Army determined to secure tickets to see their side face off with Mansfield in the first leg of the League Two play-off semi-finals.

Ticket sales were opened to Newport County AFC season ticket holders, trust members and community shareholders, volunteers, Clwb Spytty members and academy players and scholars at 8am today.

Although the queues were not as lengthy as previously witnessed ahead of the FA Cup ties against Leicester City and Manchester City, a good number of fans arrived at the ground to make sure of their place.

Phone lines were also busy, with people trying every avenue to secure their seats at the play-off tie.

General ticket sales will commence at the Rodney Parade ticket office and via phone (01633 415374) from tomorrow from 9am.

Online general sale will commence from 5pm tomorrow until kick-off on Thursday, May 9, 7.45pm.

Newport County AFC will face off against Mansfield Town in a two-leg tie, the winner going on to face either Tranmere Rovers or Forest Green Rovers in the play-off final at Wembley.

The side crowned eventual winners of the play-offs will then have to prepare to run out against the likes of Ipswich Town, Coventry City and Bolton Wanderers in League 1 next season.
