THE Newport Tip Shop has been shortlisted for the National Recycling Awards 2019.
Sponsored by Materials Recycling World (MRW), the Tip Shop made the finals under the Waste Reduction Initiative category.
According to MRW, this category had a "particularly strong field with entrants from far afield".
Philip Davies, who is the manager at site, said: “Getting to the finals is just amazing. I’m so pleased that the hard work of our volunteers has got recognition on a national level. Let’s hope we can go the whole way.”
The awards ceremony will take place in the Park Lane Hilton in London on 29th June.
Last month the Tip Shop saved more than 20 tonnes of reusable items from going into the skips. It is proving very popular with Newport residents and currently has a pool of twelve volunteers who help keep the shop running.
