DISABLED school children in the Caerphilly County Borough got a wonderful surprise when a supermarket chain gave them more than 150 unwanted Easter Eggs.

The Pontllanfraith branch of Sainsbury's gave the 158 Easter eggs to Trinity Fields special needs school, Ystrad Mynach.

The eggs were donated by customers in the store and the store’s staff.

Assistant headteacher at Trinity Fields, Leanne Boardman, said her pupils were thrilled to get the eggs.

"We are absolutely delighted with our ongoing partnership with Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith," she added.

"We would particularly like to thank their in-store champion Linda, for always going the extra mile and thinking of us."

Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith’s PR Ambassador Linda Korczynski said: “We are in links with Trinity Fields special needs school.

"They were our local charity partner a few years back and this is school has inspired me since, they have a special place in my heart particularly.”

The egg donation follows an Easter bonnet parade at the store on Good Friday.
