A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson after multiple emergency services responded to an incident in the Cwmbran suburb of Llanyrafon.

Fire engines, first reponse vehicles and police cars have been seen responding to the incident.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: "At 14.36pm today, officers responded to a report of concern for safety of a woman at an address in Llanyrafon.

"Officers later arrested a 50-year-old woman from the area on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

"She is currently is in police custody."

The Argus received reports of a sizeable presence of emergency vehicles outside a property in the Cwmbran suburb.

According to eyewitness reports, fire crews had to use a battering ram to break down the door of the property. A woman was then seen being escorted from the property.

In the meantime, as motorists slowed to look at the ongoing incident, a bus collided with a white car on the road adjacent to the property.

South Wales Fire Service have also been contacted for an update.
