Undy & Magor (180 all out) beat Mountain Ash (70 all out) by 110 runs.
RICHARD Hudson took five wickets for NO runs, including a memorable hat-trick, as Undy & Magor thrashed Mountain Ash at Mill Lane at the weekend, writes Bob Cypher.
The visitors won the toss and asked U&M to bat first.
Home skipper Harry James (42) and fellow opener Arjun Calidas (26) gave U&M a good start with Steve Hepple weighing in with a useful 25 runs.
Josh James (19) John Danks (31) and Pete Charrett (12) steered U&M to a beatable total.
But Ash’s reply was feeble with six of their batsmen going for ducks and only skipper Owen Roberts (23) and Neil Hooper (17) managing double-figure scores.
Hudson finished with incredible figures of five overs, five maidens, with five wickets, including a hat-trick.
Following torrential rain on Friday, U&M’s skipper thought the game would be called off, especially as there were no covers on the square, but the club were given the go-ahead in time to confirm the pitch was playable.
“It was a great response by the lads,” Harry James said later.
“Richard (Hudson) was unbelievable and Paul Smith also bowled very well, taking three wickets for 10 runs in four overs.”
