Here's the latest Argus column by Monmouthshire County Council leader Cllr Peter Fox:

THE leaves are falling, the mornings are crisp and there’s a shade of orange everywhere you look.

We’ve got some fantastic events and activities for everyone to look forward to this Autumn in Monmouthshire.

On Sunday, November 3, the sensational Caldicot fireworks display returns to the castle.

The annual event has been rated as one of the top 10 in Wales, and this year hopes to be even bigger and better with plenty of activities, food and drink and of course the spectacular fireworks display on offer.

MORE NEWS:

I’m proud to see Monmouthshire County Council working in association with local businesses, the town council and volunteers to ensure this year’s amazing display is one to remember.

As usual, there will be key service areas from Monmouthshire County Council at the event to talk to the public. Our foster care team will be there on the evening and they are inviting anyone who is thinking of helping to change a child’s life to come and talk to them about fostering.

This event is not one to miss and tickets go on general sale on Monday, October 14, with adult tickets costing £7.50 and children’s tickets £4.50. Children under three get free entry but will still need a ticket.

If November is too long to wait, the council’s got some fantastic activities during the October half term.

Our popular Monmouthshire Games returns providing a week of fun and fitness for children and young people aged five-12 years old.

A whole host of activities including adventure camps, dance and gymnastics will be on offer from Monday, October 28, to Friday, November 1.

While Rugby World Cup fever is in the air – the Monmouthshire Games is also hosting a specialised rugby camp which is being run in partnership with MonSport, Mon Leisure and Dragons Community.

There will also be a host of spooky fun for the little ones to enjoy.

The Spooktacular Express will be arriving at Tintern Old Station on Saturday, November 2, between 11am and 1pm and Caldicot Castle will be taken over for the Haunted Halloween Quest running from the October 26 to 31.

For the scary and spooky among us, The Addams Family Musical comes to the Borough Theatre in Abergavenny from Tuesday, October 29, to Saturday, November 2.

I hope that all families across the county make the most of these wonderful events coming up.
