UPDATE 9.31am: The accident has cleared and traffic has eased.
UPDATE 8.57am: Traffic is easing on Forge Road, but the southbound remains partially blocked.
UPDATE 8.20am: The crash and resulting heavy traffic is affecting the Newport Bus service 37, to and from Rhiwderin into the city centre.
UPDATE 8.02am: Traffic is tailing back southbound on the A467 as far as the Chartist Drive junction in Rogerstone, and back through Bassaleg on the A468.
Traffic on the Tredegar Park roundabout and junction 28 of the M4 is also very heavy at present
A CRASH is causing heavy traffic around J28 of the M4.
The crash has happened on the A467 southbound between the Park View roundabout at Bassaleg, and the Tredegar Park roundabout.
As a result the Forge Lane section of the A467 is partially blocked southbond, and AA Travel is warning of long tailbacks through Bassaleg and back up the A467.
