Some residents say that they have been contacted by Welsh Water who said that it is expected to have the pipe repaired and water resumed later this afternoon.
A Welsh Water spokesman said: “We are aware of a burst water main in the Risca area of Newport which is affecting a very small number of properties, and are working to repair the burst as quickly as possible.
“We apologise to anyone whose supply has been affected and assure them we are working to restore normal service as soon as possible.”
