BARRY Cemetery has been forced to close as coronavirus takes hold.

Barry Town Council (BTC), which operates the Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery on Monday, March 23.

BTC chief officer, Emily Forbes said: “Due to the ongoing outbreak of Covid-19 and recent guidance received from government, Barry Town Council has taken the difficult decision to close Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery to the public.

“Funerals will still take place under controlled conditions and the cemetery team is working hard to maintain capacity within the burial service during this unprecedented period.

“The safety of staff and the public is paramount during this outbreak and we appreciate your understanding during these difficult times.”
