A MAN from Newport has been taken to hospital in Cardiff after a crash in Newport.

The incident happened at 1.30pm this afternoon.

The Welsh Air Ambulance Service were in attendance alongside Gwent Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for the police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Chepstow Road, Newport, at around 1.30pm."


"The collision involved a grey Toyota Avensis and a 20-year-old man from the Newport area, who has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff after sustaining injuries in the incident.

"The road has now re-opened.

"Officers from the Welsh Air Ambulance Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service also attended the incident."
