NEW parking permits will not be issued for the foreseeable future by Caerphilly council, as it concentrates resources on key services during the coronavirus outbreak.
In a post on social media, the county borough council said: “Please note we will be unable to renew resident parking permits for the foreseeable future.
“Don’t be concerned if your permit is about to expire, as all resident parking permits will remain valid until the new ones arrive.”
Putting the brakes on issuing new parking permits will allow the council to priories the delivery of essential and support services to residents.
The council said that guidance on social distancing would make the printing and issuing of parking permits impossible.
However, residents took to social media to raise concerns about their individual situations.
Questions were asked about self-isolating with more cars than permits and the changing of number plates.

The council said that these extenuating circumstances will be taken into and called upon residents not to be concerned.
The council has taken other steps to encourage social distancing, which included the closure of all its parks, playgrounds and household waste recycling centres.
