PERMISSION has been refused to use a cabin in Caerphilly as a holiday let - despite the property having been advertised on Airbnb since last summer.
Caerphilly County Borough Council said Mountain Lodge cabin on Emanuel Close is “incompatible” with the surrounding area.
The lodge, which has a small bedroom, a toilet and a hot tub, had been advertised on Airbnb – a website and app through which owners can let out their properties on a short-term basis.

The council received one objection to the change of use to a holiday let.
Concerns were raised in the objection over the “unacceptable noise level” and congestion on the road.
The proposed holiday let would have been in an “established residential area” which is considered an inappropriate use.
The council’s delegated decision report says: “The proposal would result in an adverse impact on the residential amenity of surrounding properties through an increase in noise and customer changeover, which would lead to an increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic within the residential close.”
The applicant has the option to appeal the decision.
