A ROUND-UP of recent Gwent cases heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

CHRISTOPHER MARK NICHOLAS POCKNELL, 50, of Highfield Crescent, Abergavenny, was jailed for eight weeks, suspended for two years, after he admitted harassment which included sending unwanted gifts to his victim.

He was also made the subject of a two-year restraining order and must pay a £122 surcharge.

PAUL ANDREW GERRY, 37, of William Lovett Gardens, Newport, was jailed for 16 weeks after he admitted stealing seven jars of coffee from a Spar store, three large bottles of Persil from Poundland and being in breach of a suspended prison sentence for theft.

He must also pay a £122 surcharge.

NICOLA JONES, 36, of Bacon Place, Malpas, Newport, was fined £75 and ordered to pay a £32 surcharge after she admitted a public order offence in the city.

JOHN MICHAEL COFFEY, 39, of Liscombe Street, Newport, was fined £660 after he pleaded guilty to failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £66 surcharge.

Coffey’s licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

MICHAEL DAVID MOON, 53, of Bryn Carno, Rhymney, Caerphilly, was fined £660 after he admitted failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £66 surcharge.

Moon’s licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

ALAN COURTNEY, 45, of Church Crescent, Ebbw Vale, was fined £220 after he admitted speeding at 73mph in a 60mph zone on the A465 in Hirwaun, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

He must also pay £85 costs, a £32 surcharge and his licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

ALUN GABB, 55, of Upper Stanley Terrace, Elliots Town, New Tredegar, Caerphilly, was fined £220 after he admitted speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone on the A465 in Cardiff

He must also pay £85 costs, a £32 surcharge and his licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

HELEN RUTH NORTON, 43, of Nash Close, Rogerstone, Newport, was fined £660 after she pleaded guilty to failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle.

She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £88 surcharge.

Norton’s licence was endorsed with six penalty points.
