NEWPORT Bus will launch a pre-booking system for three of its routes in the city from Monday (May 18).

The new Fflecsi system, run by Transport for Wales, will replace timetabled services on the company's regular 1/1B (Rogerstone), 11A/11C (Allt-Yr-Yn/Brynglas), and 26A/26C (St Julians) routes.

Passengers who wish to travel on these routes must instead book a bus in advance by calling Fflecsi (contact details below) or using the Fflecsi mobile app.

Fflecsi buses will also stop for un-booked passengers who are at bus stops on those routes, but drivers will not change the route of the pre-booked journey, a spokesman for Newport Bus confirmed.

The new pre-booking service will run Monday-Saturday, 7.30am-6.30pm.

Like other public transport companies, Newport Bus has scaled back its services due to the drop in demand during the ongoing Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

But from Monday, the firm will make one restoration to its timetable.

The 60 service (Newport-Monmouth) will be re-introduced, with one bus leaving Monmouth during the morning peak time, and another bus leaving Newport during the evening peak time.

All other services will remain unchanged, the Newport Bus spokesman said.
