A TEENAGER was arrested in Newbridge yesterday (Thursday) evening on suspicion of attempted murder.
The 19-year-old, who is from the Penpedairheol area, is currently in police custody.
Officers were called to Old Pant Road, Pantside, shortly before 8pm following reports that a man had been attacked.
There, a 23-year-old man from Cwmcarn had received a stab wound to his chest, Gwent Police said.
He is currently in a stable condition and is being treated at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

A local resident told the Argus "loads of police" had blocked off a section of road and a police helicopter was hovering over Pantside following the alleged stabbing.
Gwent Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Old Pant Road on Thursday, May 28, between 7pm and 8pm who may have information that could assist enquiries.
