A WARNING has been issued to Virgin Media customers after some residents received fake calls from scammers.

Residents in Bracknell reported on social media after receiving a call from someone claiming to be from the Telecoms company.

A woman posted on Facebook and said: "Be aware scammers making out they are from Virgin Media saying there are internet problems, wanting your accounts and bank details.

"Don't give them any details."

Virgin Media has been contacted in light of the scam and they said they would never ask for bank details.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “Virgin Media takes the security of its customers very seriously. Like many organisations and banks, we will never call our customers and ask for their bank details. If any customers receive suspicious calls, we urge them to not give any details, disconnect the call and report the incident to Action Fraud.”

• Never give out your personal information in response to an incoming call, or rely upon the Caller ID as the sole means of identification, particularly if the caller asks you to carry out an action which might have financial consequences

• If, following a suspicious call, you want to call your bank directly on a published number, use a different phone line or mobile if possible.
