Prosecutor Marian Lewis told Newport Crown Court how the rape took place in the summer of 2019.

Hampson, of Cambridge Way, Haverhill, Suffolk, pleaded guilty to the charge.

He also admitted another sexual assault against the girl.

Judge Geraint Walters jailed Hampson for six years.

The defendant must register as a sex offender for life and was made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Outside the court, the officer in the case, DC Carla Roderick-Jones said: "I welcome the sentence and subsequent orders imposed by the courts.

"This was a particularly harrowing attack on a young, vulnerable female.

"The actions of Hampson have had a devastating impact on the victim and I would like to commend her for her strength and bravery in coming forward.

"Allegations of sexual offences reported to Gwent Police will be investigated thoroughly and we have specialist officers ready to support those who have been affected."
