Llandeilo based Red Dot Finance Group has taken on a long-term commitment to the Llandeilo Food Hub via their customer reward scheme.

Red Dot donates £40 for every policy customers take out with them and each customer can pick the Food Hub as recipient.

Dyfed Lloyd-Jones and Stephanie Jones from red Dot visited the Llandeilo food hub last month where they met with Christoph Fischer and volunteers to find out more about the services of the hub and what it means to the community of Llandeilo.

The food hub now prepares food parcels for up to 100 families. As the volunteers know these people by now, they are making up the parcels tailored to the families’ individual needs. Some need a parcel every week, some get by most of the time but need a top up to see through, especially if an unexpected bill such as an MOT or similar can impact their finances.

There is hope to develop the food hub into a food education hub, teaching families to cook economically and how to budget which will be a great opportunity to support even more people from within our community.

“At Red Dot we believe that communities are at the heart of everything that we do, and we would like to give a little something back,” said Stephanie Jones of Red Dot.

Food hub volunteer Owen James said the team were grateful for the donations.

Adding: "Red Dot already made everyone's Easter by donating chocolate eggs four our families and now they are coming forward again with an even bigger gesture, diolch yn fawr."

The Covid 19 Support Group collects food on behalf of the hub ever day of the week between 2pm and 4pm at the Rugby Club / Cae Williams Llandeilo.

The hub also accepts cash donations if you are unable to visit a drop off point, please contact the hub directly if you wish to make a financial contribution.

The food hub is currently in need of meals for single people, including ready meals or tinned meat or fish. They are also in need of pasta sauces, pasta, bread, tinned soups, gluten free products and toiletries.
